THE FLATS – Members of Georgia Tech’s incoming freshmen class began arriving on campus over the weekend and started the annual JumpStart Jackets summer bridge program to aid in transition to college life. Over a two-week period, the program is divided into four modules covering several topics to help the newest Yellow Jackets get acclimated to campus and academics.
During the course, 26 of Tech’s incoming freshmen from five sports will be acclimated to all things Georgia Tech with modules focused on building academic skills, campus community and the Total Person Program. JumpStart Jackets is led by the Athletics Association’s student-services staff, Total Person Program staff and campus partners.
During a robust opening week of programming, student-athletes will be introduced to a diverse set of topics including growth mindset, time management, compliance and acclimation to college led by a student-athlete panel of upperclassmen Yellow Jackets. Each day will also feature a “Lunch-N-Learn” guest speaker, providing the student-athletes opportunities to hear from director of athletics, Todd Stansbury, and several campus partners.
During the second week of the program, student-athletes will get an introductory look at the Total Person Program, covering topics like performance nutrition, financial literacy, campus resources and mental strength training.
