Jones Tabbed All-ACC First Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech women’s tennis junior Kenya Jones was tabbed to the 2019 Atlantic Coast Conference all-conference first team as announced by the league on Thursday. The recognition marks the second consecutive for Jones, who earned second team accolades as a sophomore.

“I’m very proud of Kenya for picking up this recognition,” commented head coach Rodney Harmon. “She has worked very hard this season, leading us from the No. 1 singles position, and is very deserving of this honor.”

The Memphis, Tenn., native has led the Yellow Jackets from the No. 1 singles position all season, boasting a 28-11 overall ledger, including a 15-6 dual singles mark and an 11-3 record in ACC play. She went 9-6 in dual singles play against nationally ranked players, including pocketing a pair of victories over top-10 opponents to close the regular season. Jones is currently ranked No. 8 in the country in singles.

In doubles action, Jones went 20-12 overall, 12-7 in dual play and 8-4 against league foes. With fellow classmate and doubles partner Nadia Gizdova, the doubles tandem posted a 6-1 mark, including a 5-1 record in ACC action.

Earlier this season, Jones was tabbed the ACC co-player of the week after going undefeated in a pair of matches that helped Tech to a victory over then-No. 27 Syracuse.
