Jenkin Named Second-Team Academic All-America

ATLANTA — (June 17) Georgia Tech junior women’s tennis player Tamarra Jenkin (New Braunfels, Texas) has been named to the 1999 GTE Academic All-America Spring At-Large Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Jenkin is the first Tech women’s tennis player to be named an Academic All-America after she was named to the GTE Academic All-District team the past two seasons. She owns a cumulative 4.0 grade point average in Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Jenkin finished the 1998-99 season 17-16 overall in singles play and was 20-11 overall in doubles. She also captured the Atlantic Coast Conference Flight Championship at No. 2 doubles with partner Bobbi Guthrie (Raleigh, N.C.).
