Jaybo Shaw Named ACC Rookie Of The Week

Oct. 6, 2008

GREENSBORO, N.C, – Georgia Tech true freshman quarterback Jaybo Shaw was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week the league office announced this afternoon.

Shaw, a Flowery Branch, Ga., native, was 9-of-13 passing for 230 yards. He threw for a touchdown and also ran for one in the Yellow Jackets’ 27-0 win over Duke at home on Saturday. Starting in place of injured signal caller Josh Nesbitt, Shaw had more yards passing than any Tech quarterback in their first career start. Included in his 230 yards was an 88-yard touchdown strike to Demaryius Thomas — the third-longest pass play in Tech history.

The Yellow Jackets will step out of conference as they host Gardner-Webb Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium (3:30 p.m./no TV). It will be the first-ever meeting between these two schools.
