YELLOW JACKETS FACE TAR HEELS IN CRUCIAL ACC COASTAL BATTLE
Georgia Tech heads to Tobacco Road Saturday for a crucial ACC Coastal Division showdown with long-time rival North Carolina. The game kicks off at 12:30 p.m. from Kenan Stadium and can be seen live on the ACC Network.

The Yellow Jackets are fresh off a 33-13 victory at Maryland last Saturday, holding the Terps to just 256 total yards and to the lowest point total by a Tech opponent in an ACC road game since 2009.

With a win at UNC, Tech would move into a tie for first place with Miami in the Coastal Division should the Hurricanes lose at Virginia.

QUICK OUTS
• The Yellow Jackets have rushed for more yards than any FBS team since 2008 and own the nation’s fourth-leading rushing attack this season at 318.2 yards/game.

• Senior QB Tevin Washington has rushed for 16 touchdowns this season, including a school record-tying four-TD effort versus Middle Tennessee State on Sept. 29.

• Washington is second in the ACC and tied for ninth nationally in scoring at 10.7 points/game. His 16 rushing TDs are the third-most nationally by any player, and the second-most by an FBS QB.

• With 34 career rushing TDs, Washington stands second all-time at Tech and in the ACC. He is one shy of Joshua Nesbitt’s (2007-10) school and ACC record of 35 QB rushing TDs.

• Sophomore return specialist Jamal Golden is third in the ACC and 18th nationally in kick return average (27.8 avg). He totalled 174 KO return yards versus BYU, including a 97-yarder for a touchdown — Tech’s first KO return for a TD since Oct. 31, 1998, at Maryland.

• Senior AB Orwin Smith has racked up 992 all-purpose yards this season and his 110.2 average is ninth in the ACC.

• Smith’s career average of 9.7 yards per carry is the highest by any active FBS player with 100+ career carries.

• Tech’s defense has recorded at least one interception in eight consecutive games. Eight players share the team’s 10 picks, led by Jemea Thomas’ three.

• Following a three-sack performance at Maryland, junior Jeremiah Attaochu was named ACC Linebacker of the Week.

TECH-CAROLINA SERIES NOTES
• Georgia Tech leads the all-time series, 26-18-3.

• The Yellow Jackets have won the last three meetings, including a 35-28 victory over the Tar Heels last season in Atlanta.

• Tech has won six of the last seven and 12 of the last 14.

• North Carolina leads the series in Chapel Hill, 11-9-3.

• Tech beat UNC on its last trip to Kenan Stadium, in 2010, a highlight of a 6-7 season. The Jackets have won twice in their last three trips to Orange County.
