Feb. 2, 2006

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams will travel to South Bend, Ind., to compete in the Meyo Invitational, Friday-Saturday, on the campus of Notre Dame. The meet is slated to begin with the men’s and women’s long jump on Friday at 5 p.m.

Former walk-on and senior Eric Massey improved on his school record in the men’s weight throw last weekend with a personal-record mark of 62 feet, 2 ¼ inches, to capture the event.

For the women, junior Ashlee Kidd established a NCAA Provisional time of 53.89 in the 400 meters (4th in NCAA) to finish in first place. Kidd also tallied a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with an indoor season-best time of 24.17, and finished sixth in the 60-meter dash with a personal-record time of 7.51.

Sophomore Jerome Miller holds the nation’s seventh-best clear in the men’s high jump with an indoor season-best mark of 7 feet, 1 ¾ inches, tying the indoor school record.

Senior Brandy Depland just missed Tech’s indoor school record in the women’s triple jump a couple of weeks ago and holds the nation’s fourth-best tally with a NCAA Provisional mark of 43 feet, 4 ¼ inches.

Sophomore Shantia Moss and junior Fatmata Fofanah have both clocked NCAA Provisional times in the women’s 60-meter high hurdles. Moss ran a time of 8.33 at the Clemson Opener, while Fofanah returned to action last weekend to post a qualifying time of 8.35.

Senior sprinter Andriane Lapsley is the final Yellow Jacket to post a NCAA Provisional qualifying time so far this indoor season. Lapsley ran an indoor season-best time of 7.42 at the Clemson Opener.
