Jackets Travel to Georgia

Oct. 22, 2004

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will head to in-state rival Georgia for a dual meet at 11 a.m. this Saturday morning. The men’s match-up will be the 80th meeting between the schools and second meeting for the women.

Juniors Teemu Kettunen and Ryan Riebesell tied for first place in the 50 freestyle and freshman diver Evan Stowers won the three-meter springboard with a NCAA Zone qualifying mark to lead the Jackets against No. 12 Tennessee on Thursday afternoon.

The meet with Georgia will be the season opener for the Yellow Jacket women. Sophomore All-American Vesna Stojanovska will lead a talented and deep group of female athletes against the second-ranked Bulldogs (2-0).

The Bulldog men enter Saturday with a No. 6 ranking. Georgia dropped a dual meet to UNC and defeated Clemson to advance its record to 1-1. UGA will face Tennessee on Friday afternoon in a Southeastern Conference match-up.

The swim meet can be followed via live stats at Tech vs. Georgia.
