ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams will compete at the Clemson Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 20-21, in Clemson, S.C. The indoor meet will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday.
“Coming off a very solid first meet last week at Kentucky, we’re anxious to line up again at Clemson in a nine-team scoring meet,” said women’s head coach Alan Drosky. “We’ll get a chance to see conference rivals North Carolina, Clemson, and Virginia Tech, as well as the Bulldogs from Athens. Importantly, we’ll have a great opportunity to continue our preparations for the ACC meet later in the season.”
Junior Ashlee Kidd clocked a NCAA Provisional time of 54.05 in the women’s 400 meters last Saturday afternoon at the Kentucky Invitational. That mark stands as the top time in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Last time the Jackets competed in Clemson, senior Andriane Lapsley and sophomore Shantia Moss tallied NCAA Provisional marks. Lapsley posted a time of 7.42 in the women’s 60-meter dash, while Moss finished with a NCAA mark of 8.33 in the women’s 60-meter high hurdles.
The Yellow Jackets will return to Lexington, Ky., next weekend for the Rod McCravy Memorial, Jan. 27-28.
