Jackets Take Down Kennesaw State

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (8-5, 0-0 ACC) started off its week of competition with a 5-2 victory over Kennesaw State (5-1, 0-0 ASUN) on Thursday, Feb. 23.

Despite not earning the doubles point, the Jackets came back with five wins in singles play.

Tech’s three ranked singles players were the first to secure victories and all three were completed in two sets. No. 47 Marcus McDaniel was the first Jacket to finish his match with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Kennesaw State’s Conway. McDaniel improves to 11-1 in dual match singles and is on an eight-match win streak.

No. 34 Andres Martin followed behind with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Kennesaw State’s Garcia, improving to 10-3 in dual match singles. Tech’s final ranked player, No. 85 Keshav Chopra, took down his opponent Salmeron in a 6-2, 6-3 decision. Elias Shokry secured the team win with a 6-2, 6-3 singles victory over Kennesaw State’s Leon.
