Jackets Split Squads to Penn Relays and Tom Jones Memorial

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech track and field splits the squad this week as one group heads north to the 123rd Penn Relays Carnival April 27-29 while another group heads to Gainesville, Fla. to compete at the Tom Jones Memorial on Friday, April 28.

The Jackets have 10 running events on tap for the Penn Relays. On Thursday, Tech competes in seven events with one relay on Friday and the final two relays scheduled for Saturday.

The Tom Jones Memorial starts at 11 a.m. with the hammer throw; track events are slated for 1 p.m. with the 100m hurdle prelims.

The Jackets are coming off a successful two-day meet on The Flats with the Georgia Tech Invitational. The squad tallied 34 career bests and six wins at the George C. Griffin Track.
