Jackets Split Day Two in Starkville

Β STARKVILLE, Miss. –Georgia Tech softball (6-6) split day two of The Snowman Alex Wilcox Memorial Tournament, topping Alcorn State (2-4) 8-4 in the first game of the day before falling to host Mississippi State (9-3) 9-0 in five.

SophomoreΒ Tricia Awald gets the Jackets on the board in the top of the first with a triple to center field, scoring sophomoreΒ Breanna Roper. Roper extended her hitting streak to nine games with a single to reach base.

 

With the bases loaded in the top of the fourth, Roper doubled to left center, clearing the bases and advancing to third on an error by the center fielder. Her three RBI hit moved the tally to 5-0.

As the first batter following an Alcorn State pitching change, juniorΒ Crosby Huckabay hit a single to left field to score Roper from third and bring the tally to 7-0.
