THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech track and field head to the Vanderbilt Invite this weekend for two days of competition in Nashville, Tenn. The meet will begin on Friday, Jan. 20 with the women’s high jump at 2:30 p.m. Competition will continue on Saturday, Jan. 21 with the men’s shot put at 11 a.m.
Last weekend at the Clemson Invite, Jamir Gibson shined for the Jackets. On the first day of competition, Gibson broke the school record in the weight throw with a third-place mark of 20.40 meters (66-11.25). He capped off the meet by winning the men’s shot put with a mark of 18.60 meters (61-0.25).
Tech will have several top performers competing at the Commodore Invite. The running events will feature Jameson Miller, Lydia Troupe, Ilene Soleyn and Jeremiah LaDuca. The field events will feature Gibson, Shanty Papakosta and John Watkins. Taylor Grimes and Cameron O’Neal are set to compete in both track and field events.
