Jackets Set for Pair of Weekend Matches

THE FLATS – No. 31 Georgia Tech women’s tennis travels to No. 1 Georgia for a Saturday matchup before opening ACC play on Sunday hosting Pittsburgh.

THE SCENE: The Jackets wrap-up non-conference play on Saturday making the trek to Athens to face in-state rival and top-ranked Georgia on Saturday. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. in Athens. Tech then faces a quick turnaround, hosting Pittsburgh to open league play on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.

Georgia Tech brings a 3-3 record into the weekend action, most recently coming off a win over No. 11 Northwestern. The Jackets dropped the doubles point to the Wildcats, but rebounded with five singles wins to pocket the victory.

Georgia, which won the ITA National Team Indoor title earlier in February, is 7-0 on the young season. The Bulldogs last played on Feb. 12 in the ITA Indoor championship match, defeating North Carolina, 4-3, to take the title.

Pittsburgh stands at 4-4 on the season and is 0-2 in ACC play, having already met Notre Dame and Louisville in league play. The Panthers most recently defeated Bowling Green, 5-2, at home and welcome Virginia Tech for an ACC matchup on Friday before traveling to Atlanta.
