THE FLATS — Georgia Tech men’s tennis (5-2) defeated the Georgia State Panthers, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon to remain undefeated at home.
The Yellow Jackets took an early lead after clinching the doubles point with victories from Carlos Divar/Phillip Gresk and Josesph Gandolfo /Cole Gromley.
In singles, the Jackets were led by No. 81 Andrew Li who took down Bailey Showers, 6-2, 7-5. Chris Yun also played well, winning his match over Andrei Duarte, 7-6, 7-6.
No. 69 Cole Gromley fell to Vazha Subladze in a three set match, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Gandolofo and Gresk also battled it out, winning both of their three set matches. Gandolfo defeated Kevin Hunyh 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, while Gresk bested Roberts Grinvalds 5-7, 6-1, 7-5.
Lastly, No. 38 Divar won a three set battle with Giles Hussey, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
The Jackets are back it on Sunday, Feb. 17 when they head to Columbia, S.C., to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks.
