Jackets Rebound with 73-42 Rout Over Georgia State

THE FLATSImani Tilford and Chanin Scott both recorded their first career double-doubles as Georgia Tech rolled past Georgia State on Saturday, 73-42. With the win, Tech improved to 7-1 on the season.

How It Happened
Georgia State led by three following a 6-0 run midway through the first quarter, but Antonia Peresson snapped the streak and started an 11-2 Yellow Jacket spurt to end the first quarter. Tech hit four three-pointers in the first quarter and led 18-12 at the break.

Tech carried its scoring streak into the second quarter, extending the run to 23-2 fueled by five three-pointers and 12 points from Peresson as the Yellow Jackets led 30-12 with 4:42 to play in the half. Georgia State hit its first field goal of the second half at the 4:17 mark as the Panthers were held to just seven points in the quarter. Georgia Tech led 39-19 at the halftime break and dominated on the glass, outrebounding the Panthers 32-15 in the first half.

Tech outscored GSU in the second half 34-23 and led by as many as 31 points with 2:11 left to play. Tech never relinquished a 20-point lead as the closest the Panthers came in the second half was 21 points early in the third quarter.

*Head coach MaChelle Joseph improved to 10-0 against Georgia State and Tech pushed its win streak to 14 straight over the Panthers
* Georgia Tech hit a season-high 10 three-pointers
* Imani Tilford and Chanin Scott both recorded double-doubles, marking the first contest two Yellow Jackets recorded double-doubles in the same game since Miami on Feb. 11, 2016
* Chanin Scott recorded her first double-double with 13 points (career-high) and 11 rebounds
*Imani Tilford notched 11 points and 11 rebounds for her first career double-double
*Antonia Peresson finished with 18 points fueled by five three-pointers and was just two points shy of matching her career-high
*Tech won the rebounding battle 62-33, marking the first time Tech had 60+ rebounds since Southeastern Louisiana on Nov. 18, 2015 when Tech pulled down 68
