Jackets Prep for Georgia Southern Fall Shootout

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis will send four Yellow Jackets to the Georgia Southern Fall Shootout this weekend. The 11-team field will compete in a two-day tournament featuring doubles and singles action.

Joining Georgia Tech in the field are Arkansas State, Chattanooga, Davidson, Emory, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Mercer, North Florida and host Georgia Southern. Both Saturday and Sunday will host doubles and singles play in sub-brackets that feature four players or doubles teams. Play is slated to begin at 9 a.m. each day with a round of doubles followed by singles action.

Representing Georgia Tech will be Gia Cohen (Bradenton, Fla.), Rosie Garcia Gross (New York, N.Y.) Sophia Sassoli (Gladwyne, Pa.) and Kate Sharabura (Atlanta, Ga.). Garcia Gross, Sassoli and Sharabura are appearing in their second tournament this fall, having competed in the Furman Fall Classic. Both Sassoli and Sharabura won their singles flights, going 3-0 in the tournament.
