The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team will host Tennessee Tech in non-conference action Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
“Tennessee Tech has had very competitive teams in the past, so it will be a good non-conference matchup for us,” head coach Kenny Thorne said. “This will be a great opportunity for us to have a competitive match while taking a break from ACC play.”
The Jackets (5-6, 1-2 ACC) will attempt to rebound from back-to-back, 5-2, losses to Miami and No. 15 Florida State. Tech had a tough go around with the Seminoles last Monday, losing three crucial tie-breakers in singles play.
Sophomore Guillermo Gomez leads the Jackets with a 21-6 record in singles play, while classmate Eliot Potvin is currently second with a 16-12 record. Potvin was victorious in his last outing with a 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 win over Florida State’s Maciek Sykut.
In doubles, Gomez and partner Ryan Smith are 4-2 and ranked No. 59 in the nation while playing at the No. 1 position.
This is the first ever meeting between the two schools. Live results will be available at www.RamblinWreck.com.
