ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s swimming and diving team will host ninth-ranked Minnesota in a dual meet this Saturday, Nov. 12, in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center at 1 p.m. The Yellow Jackets are 2-4 overall, while the Golden Gophers are a perfect 4-0 this season.
Tony Burkhardt leads the Jackets on the springboards, tallying NCAA Zone qualifying marks on both the one- and three-meter boards. Burkhardt, a junior from Phoenix, Ariz., leads the Atlantic Coast Conference with a score of 341.90 on the three-meter board.
NCAA qualifier Rob Miller leads the ACC in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:03.62. Miller, a sophomore from Alpharetta, Ga., holds the league’s seventh-fastest time in the 1000 free (9:29.17).
Freshman Noah Copeland holds the ACC’s third-best time in the 200 free with a mark of 1:40.82, while redshirt freshman Chris Ewald stands sixth in the 500 free with a time of 4:34.37.
Junior Ryan Bishop ranks amongst the league leaders in the 200 breaststroke (2:06.74), 200 individual medley (1:53.04) and 400 IM (4:05.32) events. Fellow junior Alex Williams holds the ACC’s fourth-best time in the 100 breast with a time of 58.04.
Senior Teemu Kettunen also appears in the ACC top times for the Jackets. Kettunen, a native of Jarvenpaa, Finland, ranks sixth in the 100 butterfly (50.92) and 10th in the 50 free (21.38).
The Yellow Jacket men and women will return to the pool on Nov. 18-20, for the second annual Georgia Tech Invitational. The invitational will host prelims and finals, beginning at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. All home meets can be followed on www.ramblinwreck.com.
