ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will host NC State and New Orleans (women) this Saturday, Nov. 5, in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. The meet is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
The Yellow Jacket men are currently 2-3 on the season and 2-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Wolfpack enter this weekend with a perfect 3-0, 2-0 ACC record.
On the women’s side, the Jackets are yet to post a victory with tough losses to ranked ACC teams Florida State and Virginia Tech and a close 10-point defeat to defending ACC champion Maryland. Tech also dropped its opening meet of the season against defending national champion Georgia. NC State women are 2-1 overall, 1-1 in the ACC.
Freshman Noah Copeland leads the Jackets in the 200-yard freestyle with the third-best time in the ACC at 1:40.82. Tech continues to shine in the distance freestyle events, with senior All-American Sam Morgan and sophomore NCAA qualifier Rob Miller ranking in the top 10 in the 500 and 1000 freestyle events.
Sophomore NCAA qualifier Elizabeth Stowe and freshman Caroline Jones are off to fast starts for the Yellow Jacket women. Stowe ranks fourth in the ACC in the 500 free (4:56.66) and fifth in the 1000 free (10:03.65). Jones holds the league’s third-best mark in the 200 backstroke (2:03.15).
The Pack’s Cullen Jones holds the nation’s top time in the men’s 50 free (19.87) and ranks second in the ACC, 13th in the NCAA, in the 100 free (45.16). He and the Wolfpack hold the league’s best 400 free relay time (3:03.52) and stand seventh in the country.
The Yellow Jacket men will host No. 11 Minnesota in the GTAC next Saturday, Nov. 12. The dual meet is slated for a 1 p.m. start. The women will return to the pool on Nov. 18-20, for the annual Georgia Tech Invitational.
