THE FLATS – Georgia Tech swimming and diving is set to host in-state rival University of Georgia for the mid-week matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at McAuley Aquatic Center. The 16-event meet will be contested in short course meters, beginning with the 200 medley relay at 3 p.m.
Last weekend, the men defeated UNC Wilmington 175-125 while the women claimed victories over the Seahawks (185-115) and Campbell (244.5-49.5). Tech had several successful finishes at UNCW, but the standout of the meet was freshman Deniz Ertan who earned two individual wins and broke the school record in the women’s 1000 free (9:43.62).
The women’s team tallied a total of seven individual wins with first-place performances coming from Ertan, Zora Ripkova, McKenzie Campbell, Clarissa Sabin and Astrid Dirkzwager. Julian Killius and Batur Ünlü led the men with two victories a piece. The men’s team also earned first-place finishes behind the efforts of Justin Alderson, Nils Bognar, Mert Kilavuz and Berke Saka.
Once again, Ruben Lechuga and Anna Bradescu shined in the diving events. The two Jackets swept both the men’s and women’s 1 Meter and 3 Meter dives.
