THE FLATS — The Georgia Tech track and field team is set to host the Georgia Tech Invitational at Griffin Track Friday and Saturday. Friday’s events begin at 12 p.m. with the hammer throw, and Saturday’s action continues at 11 a.m. with the women’s high jump.
Parking
Fans wishing to attend the meet on Friday should be aware that the Georgia Tech spring football game is scheduled for 7 p.m. and there will be traffic congestion on campus. Fans attending the track and field meet should park in the Family Housing Lot, ER66. The McCamish Lot will not be an option for track and field parking.
Saturday morning is Georgia Tech’s 43rd Annual Pi-Mile and beginning at 8 a.m. until the end of the race, there will be road closures on Bobby Dodd and Techwood Drive. Fans can park in the McCamish Lot.
Alex Grady
Sophomore distance runner Alex Grady will be presented with the Haier Ultimate Achievement Award trophy and check to the General Scholarship Fund on Friday night between the 110m HH and 100m trials — approximately 6:15 p.m.
Ed Schatell, Regional Sales Manager for Haier America will present the award. He will be joined by Linda Lamb, Regional Manager for HH Gregg, and Eddie Kim, a Georgia Tech alum, who is General Manager of the HH Gregg store in Kennesaw. Representatives of Newton High School where Alex attended, Superintendent Samantha Fuhrey, and Sherri Viniard-Davis, director of public relations will be in attendance.
