Jackets Host Emory on Senior Day in Final Dual Meet

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will host its final dual meet of the season on Saturday against Emory University in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center at Noon. The Yellow Jackets will honor seniors Meghan DeVinney, Liz Foster, Laura Heiser, Jason Howard, Brian Huff, Teemu Kettunen, Ashley Kracke, Sam Morgan, Laurissa Prystaj, Ryan Riebesell and Jacob Wilson before the meet gets underway.

MEN
Jason Howard – Jason is a four-year letterwinner for the Yellow Jackets … A native of Snellville, Ga., Howard anchored the school record-setting 200-, 400- and 800-yard freestyle relay teams at the 2005 ACC Championships … He also ranks second all-time in school history in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events and holds the program’s third-best time in the 200 freestyle … Last season, Howard clocked a lifetime-best and NCAA `B’ standard times in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events to finish fifth and sixth, respectively, at the ACC Championships … He is a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll Honoree and was the recipient of last year’s Shilo Ayalon Most Valuable Athlete Award … Jason will graduate with a degree in international affairs.

Brian Huff – Brian is a four-year letterwinner for Georgia Tech … Huff, a native of Marietta, Ga., ranks in Tech’s all-time top 10 in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events … He also swam a leg of the then record-setting 200- and 400-yard freestyle relay teams at the 2004 ACC Championships, which currently ranks second in Tech history … Huff clocked a lifetime-best time in the 200-yard freestyle at the 2005 ACC Championships … A three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll honoree, Huff is going to graduate from Tech with an aerospace engineering degree.

Teemu Kettunen – A four-year letterwinner for the Jackets and a team co-captain, Teemu is the school’s record holder in the 50-yard freestyle, set at last year’s ACC Championships … A native of Jarvenpaa, Finland, Teemu holds the school record as part of the 200 medley, 200- and 400-yard freestyle relay teams … He also swam a personal-best and NCAA `B’ standard time in the 100 butterfly at the 2005 ACC Championships to finish eighth … He ranks second all-time in Tech history in the 100 butterfly and third-all-time in the 100 freestyle … Teemu is a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll honoree and is scheduled to graduate with a degree in industrial engineering this May.

Sam Morgan – Sam is a four-year letterwinner for the Jackets and just the second Georgia Tech athlete to qualify for NCAAs in three consecutive seasons … A native of Gainesville, Ga., Sam garnered All-America honors at the 2004 and 2005 NCAA Championships in the 1650-yard freestyle … Last season, Morgan became just the fifth ACC champion in school history as he won the mile and broke the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center Pool record at the 2005 ACC Championships … Morgan also garnered All-ACC honors in the 500-yard freestyle at the 2005 ACC meet … He ranks second all-time in school history in the 500-, 1000- and 1650-yard freestyle events … Morgan has won the team’s most prestigious award, the Fred Lanuoe Athletic Achievement Award the last two seasons.

Ryan Riebesell – Ryan is a two-time captain for the Jackets and a four-year letterwinner … Riebesell, a native of Hoover, Ala., holds the school record as part of the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay teams … Ryan also ranks on Tech’s all-time top 10 list in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events … Named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll team in 2003, Riebesell is a biomedical engineering major at Tech and will graduate this May.

Jacob Wilson – A native of Kingwood, Texas, Jacob is a four-year letterwinner for the Yellow Jackets … He currently holds top-10 times in all-time school history in the 200-yard butterfly, 200 individual medley and 400 individual medley … Wilson qualified for the bonus finals of the 200 butterfly and 400 IM last season at the ACC Championships … An industrial engineering major at Tech, Jacob is slated to graduate this coming May.

WOMEN
Meghan DeVinney – A four-year letterwinner for Tech, Meghan ranks on Tech’s all-time top 10 list in four different events … She holds the school’s second-fastest time in the 100-yard butterfly and third-best time in the 200 butterfly … DeVinney swam a leg of the record-setting 800 freestyle relay team at the 2005 ACC Championships and also holds the school record as part of the 200 medley relay team … Meghan will graduate from Tech with a degree in industrial engineering.

Liz Foster – A native of Frankfort, Ky., Liz is a four-year letterwinner for the Yellow Jackets and a team captain … She holds the school record in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly … Set new school records in the 400 medley, 400 freestyle and 800 freestyle relay teams at the 2005 ACC Championships … Also swam a leg of the school record-setting 200 medley relay team at the 2004 ACC Championships … Ranks third all-time in Tech history in the 200 individual medley, eighth in the 200 freestyle and 10th in the 50 freestyle … A two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll honoree, Liz will graduate from Tech with a degree in civil engineering.

Laura Heiser – Laura is a four-year letterwinner for Tech … A native of Sinking Spring, Pa., Laura ranks second all-time in school history in the 100-yard breaststroke and fourth in the 200 breaststroke … Holds the team’s second-fastest times in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events this season … Held the school record in the 100 breast in 2003 … A management major at Tech, Laura is scheduled to graduate this May.

Ashley Kracke – Elected team captain this season, Ashley is a four-year letterwinner for Tech … Kracke, a native of Vestavia Hills, Ala., holds the school record in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events … Made the finals in the 100 and 200 backstroke events in each of her first three seasons … Led off the record-setting 400 medley relay team at the 2005 ACC Championships … A three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll honoree, Kracke is on Georgia Tech’s Student-Advisory Board and a Participant in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at the Atlantic Coast Conference … She will graduate in May with a degree in international affairs and modern languages.

Laurissa Prystaj – The top female diver in Georgia Tech history, Laurissa Prystaj is a four-year letterwinner for the Jackets … A native of Fairport, N.Y., Laurissa broke her own school records this season on the one- and three-meter springboards at the Georgia Tech Invitational … Made the finals on the one- and three-meter springboards at the 2005 ACC Championships, becoming the first Tech female athlete to do so … A three-time NCAA Zone Diving qualifier, Prystaj is a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll honoree … Laurissa will graduate with a degree in material science engineering in May 2007.
