Jackets Host Emory, Florida Atlantic, New Orleans and North Florida this Weekend

Jan. 10, 2007

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will host Florida Atlantic and New Orleans (women only) on Saturday and Emory and North Florida (women only) on Sunday in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. The tri-meet on Saturday will start at 1 p.m. and Senior Day on Sunday will begin at Noon.

“This a good meet to start the New Year and shake off some of the dust from training over the last month,” said Tech coach Stuart Wilson. “It’s also the final home meet for our seniors, which will make Sunday special.

“The coaching staff is very thankful for their contributions to the program and wish them the best of luck when they finish here at Georgia Tech. They have laid down the foundation for us to be even more successful in the future.”

The seniors that will post their final swims on Sunday will be Conrad Aach (North Country, Canada), Ryan Bishop (Signal Mountain, Tenn.), Ofer Finkler (Rishon Le-Zion, Israel), Amanda Korell (Lawrenceville), Heather Matz (Puyallup, Wash.), Alison Walker (Marietta), Dana West (Brookeville, Md.) and Alex Williams (Indianapolis, Ind.).

The men’s team (0-4) will be searching for its first dual meet wins of the season against FAU Owls and defending Division III national champion Emory Eagles.

The women’s team (1-4) will have a pair of tri-meets this weekend against FAU and New Orleans on Saturday, and take on Emory and N. Florida on Sunday.

The entire meet can be followed on www.ramblinwreck.com via live results. All home meets in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center are free admission.
