THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams continue their indoor season Friday with the Samford Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala. The meet marks the Yellow Jackets’ last tune up before the ACC Indoor Championships slated for Feb. 26-28 at Rector Field House in Blacksburg, Va.
Action begins Friday at 9 a.m. Eastern Time (ET) with the women’s weight throw, followed by a full schedule of field events, the last of which begins at 4 p.m. ET with the men’s shot put. Georgia Tech is set to compete in the men’s and women’s pole vaults, triple and long jumps, the women’s high jump and the women’s shot put.
Look out for Marinice Bauman and Jamilah Middlebrooks as they compete in the first running event, the women’s 60-meter preliminaries, scheduled for 12 p.m. ET. The Jackets will be competing in the entire schedule of running events with the final event of the meet, the men’s 4×400-meter relay, starting at 6:55 p.m.
Sixty-nine Yellow Jackets are set to compete in events at the meet. Live results are available on xpresstiming.com.
Teams competing with the Yellow Jackets and Samford include Alabama State, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, East Tennessee State, Liberty, South Alabama, Ole Miss, Southern New Orleans, Tarleton State, UAB, La.-Lafayette, Chattanooga, and Western Carolina.
