THE FLATS – Georgia Tech track & field finished a split weekend in Clemson and Nashville on Saturday.
In Nashville, at the Vanderbilt Music City Challenge, two Yellow Jackets competed. Claire Moritz competed in the women’s 3000m seeded event turning in a time of 9:24.38 while Harrison Fultz crossed the line in 1:51.88 seconds in the 800m.
There were several top finishes in Clemson at the Tiger Paw Invitational. In field events, Shanty Papakosta placed eighth in the women’s high jump with a mark of 1.72m (5’7.75”).
On the track, Tech had seven top finishes. Two runners had podium finishes in the women’s 5000m. Clay McKnight finished first (17:39.88) and Erin Fegans finished third (18:14.42). On the men’s side, Jean Lou Pare placed second in the 5000m (15:18.78).
The distance events produced three more top finishes with Sophie Boice (10:23.15) and Liz Rice (10:24.08) placed ninth and 10th in the women’s 3000m, respectively. Tristan Autry took seventh (8:22.56) in the men’s 3000m.
The final finish of notice came from Alex Thomas who placed eighth in the 800m (1:49.67).
The White and Gold will compete at the JDL DMR Invitational in Winston Salem, N.C. starting on Friday, February 18.
