THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech track and field team finished up competition at the Georgia Tech Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Griffin Track.
Brandon Lasater has a successful day for the junior took first place in the men’s 800m run with his time of 1:48.53. Zack Fanelty finished 11th in the 800m run (1:50.49) while Shawn Roberts took 14th (1:51.16). Nat Estes’ time of 1:51.81 placed him in 17th and Chris Burnett took 22nd with his time of 1:52.67. Patrick Fleming finished in 28th place (1:53.89), Cole Jackob finished in 44nd place (1:56.48) and Cameron Reid finished in 48th place (1:57.03).
The Yellow Jackets had a strong showing in the triple jump in both the men’s and women’s competition. Julienne McKee finished first with a jump of 12.96m. In the finals of the men’s triple jump, Jonathan Gardner’s jump of 16.15m put him in second place. Carissa Tipler also competed, finishing 16th with her jump of 12.05m.
Broderick Snoddy raced to a fifth place finish in the men’s 200m dash with his mark of21.25. Spencer Allen took 50th with his time of 23.06.
During the women’s 800m run, Morgan Jackson led the Yellow Jackets with a 17th place finish with a time of 2:11.39. Malin Trollsas finished 28th in the 800m run with a time of 2:13.88 while Samantha Kiblinger claimed 31st with her time of 2:13.92. In 35th was Laura Serres with her time of 2:17.89.
Jazmyne Taylor finished in 44nd place in the 400m dash with her time of 57.50. Ama Larbi competed in the 400m hurdles and finished in 23rd (1:01.73) while Julian Darden finished in 32nd (57.22) and Rockne Burns finished in 33rd (57.87) in the men’s 400m hurdles. Larbi also raced in the 200m dash, claiming a 32nd place finish with a time of 25.10. Teammate Tipler finished 36th with her time of 25.46.
Next the Jackets will compete in the NCAA East Preliminaries in Jacksonville, Fla. from May 29-31.
