THE FLATS — Georgia Tech men’s tennis (5-3) was defeated by South Carolina, 4-3, Saturday afternoon at the Carolina Tennis Center.
The Yellow Jackets were unable to clinch the doubles point despite the dynamic doubles duo, Phillip Gresk and Carlos Divar wining their match over Daniel Rodrigues and Raphael Lambling, 6-4.
In singles play, No. 38 Divar fell to No. 16 Paul Jubb 6-2, 6-0.
Gresk and No. 81 Andrew Li won their matches. Gresk defeated Yancy Dennis, 6-3, 6-3, while Li knocked off No. 110 Rodrigues in a three-set battle, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
No. 69 Cole Gromley and Joseph Gandolfo both lost tough three-set matches. Gromley fell to Lambling, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) and Gandolfo was defeated by Patrick Cacciatore, 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-1.
Chris Yun won his fourth singles match of the season, defeating Joseph Brailovsky, 6-3, 7-5.
The Jackets will be on the road for their next match to face off against Miami on Feb. 22.
