Thomasville, Ga. – Kacie Anson, Lyndsay Shosho and David North all lost in third-set tiebreakers as the Yellow Jackets fell to the University of Georgia in the first round of the Thomasville Collegiate Invitational Friday morning.
Georgia Tech will play Georgia State this afternoon in the second round of singles in the round-robin event which is being held at the Glen Arven Country Club in Thomasville, Ga. The tournament features both male and female student-athletes from Florida State, Georgia State, Georgia and Georgia Tech. Each school will compete against the other three institutions in both singles and doubles Friday and Saturday before entering playoff competition Sunday.
Georgia’s Natalie Frazier got the Bulldogs on the board with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Tech’s Kelly Anderson, and Caroline Basu gave the `Dogs another point with a 6-3, 0-6, 10-5 victory over Shosho. Anson dropped her match to rookie Link Leskosky, 4-6, 6-3, 10-7, while North fell to Colin Purcell by a score of 5-7, 6-3, 10-8.
