DURHAM, N.C. – Georgia Tech men’s tennis lost at Duke on Friday, 5-2. Tech took the doubles point before falling in singles competition.
For the fifth straight match, the Yellow Jackets took the doubles point with Martin/McDaniel at No. 1, McKinney/Schelcher at No. 2 and Chopra/Dong at No. 3. Tech is 3-2 in these matches.
In doubles action, Duke took the first match before the Jackets came roaring back on No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, with Andres Martin and Marcus McDaniel at doubles No. 1 winning their match 7-5 followed by Brandon McKinney and Pablo Schelcher at doubles No. 2.
Going into the singles competition up 1-0, Schelcher finished his singles match in quick succession, 6-0, 6-3. Duke would take the remaining five matches to win the match 5-2.
The White and Gold return to action on Sunday when they face UNC at 1 p.m.
