Jackets Dominate Doubleheader Against Bulldogs

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis won both matches of a doubleheader against The Citadel on Sunday. Both matches ended in 7-0 victories for the Jackets.

Over the course of the doubleheader, Tech won 77.4% of games played (181-of-234) and every set played. One doubles match and two singles matches were won without dropping a single game.

Brandon McKinney was responsible for two of these perfect matches. McKinney won his first doubles match with partner Ángel Guerrero Melgar, 6-0, and McKinney won his second singles match against Leo du Plooy, 6-0, 6-0. In total, McKinney dropped just two games across his four matches.

“Ever since the UGA match we’ve been focusing on doubles and trusting each other’s returns,” McKinney said. “We translate that into our singles match and honing in on the big first serve. I made sure to focus on the big opportunities.”

The White and Gold start ACC play on March 4 against Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. and Louisville in Louisville, Ky. on March 6 before opening up home ACC play on March 18 against Virginia.
