Jackets Conclude Competition in Day Two of Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After a lightning delay, which cancelled most of the running events on Friday, the Georgia Tech women’s 4×200-meter relay team of Dana Rogers, Andriane Lapsley, Shantrell Moss and Chaunte Howard clocked a school record time of 1:33.51 to lead the Yellow Jackets at the Florida Track & Field Relays.

Before the lightning came, sophomore All-American Ashlee Kidd posted a NCAA Region qualifying time of 54.04 in the 400-meter dash to finish in second place in two heats.

Howard, who won the indoor NCAA national title in the high jump, registered a fifth-place finish in the women’s long jump with a NCAA region qualifying mark of 19 feet, eight inches.

The men’s 1600 Sprint Medley relay team finished fourth with a time of 3:23.71. The women’s Sprint Medley relay team of Jennifer Lentz, Antoinetta McKay, Priscilla Reed and Jennifer Sims finished 13th with a time of 4:01.81.

The women’s 4×1500-meter relay team of Maria Hampton, Mary Chind, Ann Armsby and Elena Linn posted a time of 19:38.54 to finish in sixth place for the Jackets. The men’s 4x1500m relay team of Cristan Duvall, Nazar Trilisky, Chris Clarke and Blake Fertitta finished third with a time of 16:55.80.
