ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (13-9, 3-6 ACC) will close out its regular season with a trip to the Tar Heel State this weekend. The Yellow Jackets will open the trip with a match against No. 11 North Carolina (16-4, 6-1) Friday at 3 p.m. and will make its final appearance of the season Sunday at Duke (7-11, 4-4) beginning at 1 p.m.
The Jackets have struggled against both of this weekend’s opponents in the past. Tech is 10-24 all-time against North Carolina with the Tar Heels winning the past two matches. The Jackets are only 6-35 against the Blue Devils and have dropped the last five matches to Duke.
Last weekend senior Scott Blackmon and freshman Ryan Smith worked together for a pair of doubles wins and freshman Guillermo Gomez swept both of his singles matches to help Tech to its 12th and 13th home wins of the season against Maryland and Boston College.
The Jackets will next compete at the Atlantic Coast Conference Tennis Championships from April 17-20 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
