Jackets Blank Chattanooga, 7-0

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis rolled to a 7-0 decision at Chattanooga on Thursday at the Strang-Voges Tennis Center. The win pushed Tech to 2-3 on the season, while Chattanooga dropped to 4-4.

DOUBLES
The Jackets swept doubles play to take a 1-0 match lead over the Mocs. Tech jumped out with the early advantage on all three courts and it was the doubles pair on court two, Gia Cohen and Ruth Marsh, that finished first. Facing Coco Bosman and Emma Van Hee, Cohen and Marsh grabbed a 5-2 lead and pocketed the match, 6-2, to move to 4-1 on the season. On court three, Ava Hrastar partnered with Monika Dedaj to clinch the doubles point for the Jackets. Hrastar and Dedaj opened 3-0 against the Mocs and extended their lead to 5-2. The Jackets clinched the point with a 6-3 triumph over Caroline Gibbens and Nicole Abel.

Rounding out the sweep of doubles play on court one was Tech’s No. 34 duo of Carol Lee and Kate Sharabura. The Jackets led 4-1 against Callie Billman and Jessie Young, but the Mocs evened the match at 4-all. Lee and Sharabura held strong to collect a hard-fought, 7-5, decision to improve to 9-2 on the season and 4-0 in dual match play.
