ATLANTA – In a 2:41 marathon match, the Georgia Tech volleyball team outlasted Wake Forest on Friday night in four games, 15-9, 10-15, 21-19, 15-10 in front of 1,254 fans. With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 18-4, 8-1 ACC and tied for first in the conference standings with North Carolina. Wake Forest falls to 13-7, 4-5 ACC.
It was a career-night for several Yellow Jackets as they were led by Eida Mabry, who recorded a career-high 30 kills, Amanda Hess, who tallied a career-high 31 digs, and Kele Eveland who notched a career-high 84 assists. In addition, Maja Pachale had 28 kills and 17 digs in the match, Ky Bell tallied 17 kills, 14 digs and five blocks, and Teryl Townsend recorded 15 kills, eight digs, and six blocks.
Trina Maso de Moya led the Demon Deacons as she recorded 20 kills and 31 digs on the night, followed by Margaret Davidson who notched 18 kills and nine blocks.
Georgia Tech will take on the Duke Blue Devils at 7 p.m. on Saturday in O’Keefe Gymnasium. Admission is free to those fans with a ticket from the Tech vs. Duke football game at 12 p.m.
