TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (Sept. 18) — The Georgia Tech (10-3) volleyball team captured the Crimson Tide Classic on Saturday evening by defeating host Alabama (5-6) in four games, 13-15, 16-14, 15-6, 15-12.
The Yellow Jackets’ offense was led by Maja Pachale who collected 25 kills and hit .283 in the match while adding 11 digs and four block assists. For her efforts, Pachale was named the tournament’s MVP, her third all-tournament honor this season.
Kyleen Bell and Teryl Townsend also earned all-tournament honors for the tournament. Bell tallied 19 kills and hitting .275 while adding six block assists in the match while Townsend compiled 15 kills and 17 digs on the evening.
The offensive attacked shared duty in the match as Carolyn Clevenger tallied 35 assists and Courtney Adler came off the bench to collect 29 assists.
The Crimson Tide was led by Michelle Green who tallied 22 kills and 10 digs.
Georgia Tech will open their Atlantic Coast Conference schedule next week when they travel to Winston Salem, N.C. to take on Wake Forest on Friday, September 24 at 7 p.m.
