RALEIGH, NC (Oct. 22) – Playing with only nine players, the Yellow Jacket (13-9, 3-6) volleyball team dropped a close match to N.C. State (12-13, 3-6) on Friday night in five games, 10-15, 15-7, 15-10, 6-15, 12-15. The Yellow Jackets were without senior setter Carolyn Clevenger, who suffered a season-ending stress fracture earlier this week, and Sara McKee who’s return to the team is doubtful with a shoulder injury.
It was a match of defense as the Wolfpack held the Jackets to just .192 on the night and tallied 71 digs and seven blocks while Georgia Tech held its opponent to .158 for the match and collected 61 digs and 10 block assists.
Georgia Tech was led by Maja Pachale who collected 16 kills and 10 digs on the night and Teryl Townsend who added 15 kills and 12 digs. Courtney Adler tallied 43 assists on the night.
The Wolfpack were led by Charece Williams who tallied 25 kills and 13 digs during the contest. Sophomore Erin Vesey chipped in 65 assists in the match.
The Yellow Jackets will travel to Chapel Hill tomorrow night to face the Tar Heels in Carmichael Auditorium at 6:00 p.m.
