ATLANTA (November 7) – Eida Mabry led the Yellow Jacket (22-5, 12-2) volleyball team with 11 kills, two service aces and four blocks as Tech defeated NC State (8-20, 1-14) in three games, 15-1, 15-12, 15-13.
Winners of 13 of their last 14 matches, the Jackets claimed game one as their offense was virtually unstoppable, hitting .633 as a team (19 kills on 30 attempts). In that game, Amanda Hess recorded six kills on just eight attempts, while Pachale tallied four digs.
Tech again led big in game two, 14-5, before the Wolfpack scored seven times to narrow the gap to 14-12. But, Kyleen Bell, who recorded the 1,000th kill of her career, scored the final point for the Jackets, allowing them to take game two, 15-12.
Game three was much closer, with the score tied at 7-7, before the Jackets scored four unanswered points. Courtney Adler led Tech with 12 assists in the game feeding the ball to Townsend, who tallied five of her seven kills in the game, and Geekse Banck who had three kills.
For the Wolfpack, Charece Williams recorded a match-high 17 kills, while Tara Greene notched 7 kills and 11 digs.
The Jackets will face Florida State (19-10, 7-7) at 7 p.m. Friday in O’Keefe Gymnasium.
