Box Score

Tallahassee, Fla. – Megan Isom scored 20 points, including going 5-for-7 from beyond the three-point arc, to lead Georgia Tech (11-8, 2-5 ACC) to a 73-62 victory at Florida State (10-9, 3-5) for the Jackets’ first regular season sweep of the Seminoles since the 1999 season.

“I thought that Megan really played well tonight,” said Tech head coach MaChelle Joseph. “Over the past few games she’s really becoming more aggressive on offense, and I think tonight she really stood out because of it.”

Isom was one of three Jackets in double-figures in scoring against the Seminoles, as center Kasha Terry and freshman guard Stephanie Higgs added 12 apiece. Both converted on 5-of-9 from the field, while Terry hit two free throws and two of Higgs’ field goals were three-pointers.

“I was very impressed in the play of both Stephanie Higgs and Kentrina Wilson tonight,” said Joseph. “Both came out playing strong tonight and we benefited greatly from their play.

Wilson shot 50 percent from the field while pulling down five rebounds in the contest. She also dished out an assist while stealing two Florida State passes.

Tech went without the benefit of a bucket over the final five minutes of the contest, but were able to convert on free throws during that time, scoring 10 points from the charity stripe while converting on 17-of-20 from the free throw line in the second half.

Terry and Alex Stewart led the Jackets with six rebounds apiece as the Jackets pulled down 38 in the game. After turning the ball over 13 times in the first half, Georgia Tech settled down in the second, turning the ball over just eight times in the second frame while scoring a total of 13 points off Seminole turnovers.

Down by five early in the second half, Georgia Tech went on a 7-0 run to pull ahead 37-35 with 16:26 remaining in the game. The contest went back-and-forth until the Yellow Jackets started a 9-0 run with 10:31 on the clock, which was capped when FSU’s Trinetta Moore hit a jumper with 7:28 on the clock to make the score 58-50 in favor of the Jackets.

Florida State was led by point guard Shante Williams, who had 14 points, while Tasheika Allen added 13 for the Seminoles.

With the score tied 4-4 early in the game, Florida State pulled away to a 25-13 lead, helped largely by the play of point guard Shante Williams and forward Tasheika Allen, both of whom had seven points in the frame. The Jackets then went on a run of their own, tying the game at 30-30 before FSU’s Lauren Bradley hit a jumper at the buzzer to make the score 32-30 in favor of the Seminoles going into the lockerroom. Georgia Tech was led by a 12-point performance from Isom, who was 4-of-6 from beyond the three-point arc in the frame.

Georgia Tech will return to Atlanta for just its second home ACC contest in the last five games when it hosts Wake Forest on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WREK-Radio, 91.1 FM in Atlanta, and online at www.wrek.org, while livestats for the contest are available at www.ramblinwreck.com.
