Howard Captures Third Straight High Jump Title at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Junior Chaunte Howard tallied her third consecutive, 27th straight collegiate competition, high jump win at the 111th Penn Relays with a mark of 6 feet, 1.25 inches, on Friday to lead the Georgia Tech Track and Field teams.

Junior Andriane Lapsley crossed the finish line in first place in heat one of the women’s 100-meter dash with a time of 11.61. Freshman Shantrell Moss finished seventh in that same heat with a time of 12.23.

Senior Montrell Person finished third in his heat of the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 13.98. Freshman Jerome Miller cleared the bar at 6 feet, 9.50 inches, to lead the men in the high jump with a sixth-place finish.

In the women’s 100m hurdles, freshman Shantia Moss finished second in heat three with a time of 13.51, while senior Dana Rogers clocked a time of 13.61 to finish third in heat one.

Senior Holt McPherson tallied a ninth-place finish in the men’s long jump with a mark of 22 feet, 9.25 inches. Junior Brandy Depland posted a mark of 40 feet, 1.75 inches, in the women’s triple jump to finish in 13th place.
