Hickey, Ngo Fall on First Day of Riviera/ITA All-American Championships

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Georgia Tech sophomore Noelle Hickey earned a first round win but fell in the second round of the pre-qualifying singles draw at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships Saturday at Pepperdine University.

Hickey opened the day with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Anna Novo of USC Upstate in the first round of the pre-qualifying singles draw. In her second match of the day, Hickey fell to Sarah Fansler of Southern California, 6-3, 6-1.

In her first career match at the All-American Championships, freshman Viet Ha Ngo dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Alison Ramos of Southern California in the first round.

The Yellow Jackets duo of Hickey and senior Christy Striplin were scheduled to open their tournament Sunday in the pre-qualifying doubles draw but have been moved into the qualifying draw and will begin play Tuesday. Junior Amanda McDowell and freshman Irina Falconi will also play in the qualifying doubles draw.

Striplin and Falconi are also slated to begin play in the qualifying singles draw on Tuesday.
