Hewitt Receives One-Year Extension

Aug. 5, 2005

ATLANTA – Paul Hewitt, beginning his sixth year as Georgia Tech’s head basketball coach, has had his contract extended one year through the 2010-11 season. Hewitt originally received a six-year contract in the spring of 2004.

Hewitt has led the Yellow Jackets to the NCAA Tournament each of the last two seasons, and three times (plus one NIT berth) in his five years on the Flats. He has a record of 96-66 at Tech, and his overall record as a head coach is 162-93, with a total of six post-season appearances in eight years.

He again guided the Yellow Jackets to a strong finish last season at 20-12, advancing to the championship game of the ACC Tournament, a first for the Jackets under Hewitt. Tech won its first-round game NCAA Tournament game over George Washington before being eliminated by Louisville.
