THE FLATS –
Yellow Jacket fans, the Georgia Tech Athletic Association wishes you Happy 12/12/12 Day. While 12/12/12 Day is not an official holiday, it does come around only once a century, so please enjoy.
WHY I WEAR NO. 12
Stacey Poole, Jr. (Men’s Basketball)
“I used to be 22, but it’s retired. I didn’t get the chance to call John Salley and ask him, so I’m 12.”
Kaitlin Kates (Softball):
“In high school I was 7 and my sister was 5, so when both were taken I put them together.”
Wimberly Wilson (Volleyball):
“I was born in December, and 12 is the number of a quarterback. A leader.”
Demond Smith (football):
My number was 10 and Synjyn (Days) already had it. 12 was the closest to it.”
Frida Fogdemark (women’s basketball):
It’s been my number since I was little. I’ve worn it since I was 8.

TWELVE TRIVIA
Georgia Tech football has scored exactly 12 points in a game nearly two-dozen (23) times in its 120-year history, but there has been just one Yellow Jacket in which both teams scored 12 points. On Nov. 21, 1896, Georgia Tech and Mercer played to a 12-12 tie in a game played at Brisbaine Park.
