Hancock, Kracke Lead Jackets in Opening Session at ACC Women's Swimming Championships

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Lifetime best swims from freshman Ashley Kracke and sophomore Lisa Hancock highlighted Georgia Tech’s performance in the opening session of the 2003 ACC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships at North Carolina’s Koury Natatorium.

Leading the Tech swimmers was Kracke, who recorded a lifetime best of 4:58.28 in a 19th-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle. Kracke and sophomore Michelle Maguire, who placed 23rd, move on to tonight’s bonus consolation finals.

Hancock swam a lifetime-best in the 200 IM, clocking a time of 2:05.87 to place 19th. Hancock and classmate Cara DeVinny, who finished 23rd, will also swim in tonight’s bonus consolation finals.

Sophomore Moeko Wallis, who went 24.32 in the 50 free, also moves on to the bonus consolation finals after placing 22nd.

Tech will also field a 200 free relay and 400 medley relay in tonight’s finals session.

Finals begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, while Friday’s preliminary session begins at 11 a.m.
