THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team captured five singles wins and two doubles victories on the final day of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Invitational at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.

The Yellow Jackets faced LSU in doubles and Georgia State in singles on the final day of the invitational. Both freshman Johnnise Renaud and sophomore Rasheeda McAdoo were undefeated this weekend, with each of them going 3-0 in doubles and 3-0 in singles.

Renaud was named the singles MVP of the Georgia Tech Invitational after going 3-0 at the number one position. The doubles MVP was the duo of McAdoo and freshman Paige Hourigan, who went 3-0 on court one. 

Two Yellow Jacket doubles pairings were also undefeated this weekend. Sophomore Natasha Prokhenvska and Renaud rolled to a 6-2 victory on court two against LSU’s Noel Scott and Madara Straume. The duo of Hourigan and McAdoo took their third straight match by a score of 7-5 on court one against Joana Vale Costa and Skylar Holloway.  

At the number three spot, sophomore Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer and freshman Alexis Prokopuik fell to Skylar Kuykendall and Abby Owens, 6-1.

In singles against Georgia State, McAdoo went up 6-2 in the first set before falling in set two, 6-3, to Marcia Tere-Apisah. McAdoo clinched the win with a 6-1 victory in set three on court four.

Renaud’s victory on court one also came in three sets. After taking set one, 6-4, Niriantsa Rasolomalala came back to win set two, 6-2. Renaud’s 6-4 win in set three kept her undefeated on the weekend.

Prokopuik won in straight-sets against Kristin Rehse on court five, 7-5, 6-4. Anton-Ohlmeyer, who played on court six, also won in straight-sets, 6-4, 6-0, against Veronika Golanova.

Prokhenvska, who is ranked #118, suffered a 6-3, 6-7, 6-4 loss on court three to Linn Timmerman.

On court two, Hourigan won a battle against Masa Grgan. After falling in set one, 6-4, Hourgian edged her opponent 7-5 in set two. The third set was also close, but Hourigan came out on top, 7-5.
