@GT_trackNfield to Compete at Penn Relays, Georgia Invite

April 27, 2016

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – 26 members of the Georgia Tech track & field squad will compete on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Penn Relays, one of the most prestigious track meets in the world. 33 Tech athletes will also be competing at the Georgia Invite on Saturday in Athens, Ga.

“We’ve got a lot going on this weekend trying to work around the exam schedule, so we’ve got a group traveling to the Penn Relays in Philadelphia and another group heading to Athens,” head women’s coach Alan Drosky said. “Being two weeks out from ACCs, it is an important weekend and we need to manage our efforts well. We’re expecting good results at both venues, and I’m excited for the weekend.”

Among those competing in Athens will be Bria Matthews, who won both the long jump and triple jump at last week’s Georgia Tech Invite. In Philadelphia, Tech’s men’s 4×800 relay team consisting of Chris Burnett, Andres Littig, Nico Metzler and Avery Bartlett will be one to keep an eye on. The group finished fifth in a very competitive field at the Florida Relays with a time of 7:33.59.

Thursday’s action in Philadelphia will begin at 5:40 p.m. ET with the women’s DMR, which will feature Haley Anderson, Malin Trollsas, Amy Ruiz and Caroline Kissel. Live results from the Penn Relays can be followed at http://bit.ly/1N0iKLB.
