Gomez Named To All-ACC Tennis Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech sophomore Guillermo Gomez was named to the 2009 All-ACC Tennis Team, as announced by the league office Thursday. Gomez is one of 18-members selected to the squad in a vote conducted by the league’s coaches.

Gomez, the 2008 ACC Freshman of the Year, is 27-9 in singles play on the year while going 7-4 in ACC competition. The Alicante, Spain native is currently the 11th-ranked singles player in the country, the highest among ACC players. In doubles, Gomez went 5-5 in ACC play while he and partner Ryan Smith are ranked No. 44 nationally.

The Jackets face NC State Thursday at 12 p.m. at the 2009 ACC Championships in Cary, N.C. Tech will attempt to advance past the first round of the Championships for the first time since the 2005 season. Live results are available at www.RamblinWreck.com.
