THE FLATS – It was an exciting start to the NCAA East Preliminaries as Georgia Tech track and field’s Jamir Gibson punched his ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the men’s shot put.
Gibson recorded a season-best mark of 18.90 meters (62-0.25) to place 10th overall and first in his flight. His mark from today ranks second on the Men’s All-Time Outdoor Performers list. The ACC Bronze Medalist is Tech’s first NCAA qualifier in the men’s shot put since the 2010 season.
Cameron O’Neal also competed for the Jackets today in the men’s long jump. O’Neal finished in 18th place with a mark of 7.43 meters (24-4.5).
