THE FLATS – Jamir Gibson led the Georgia Tech track and field teams on day one of competition at the ACC Indoor Championships with a new school record in the men’s weight throw.
Gibson scored the Jackets with his mark of 20.69 meters (67-10.75) in the weight throw. His mark and eighth-place finish break his own school record in the event.
Helena Lindsay and James Cragin both placed 16th in the women’s and men’s 5,000 meters. Lindsay recorded a time of 16:41.92 and Cragin ran a time of 14:11.13. Kate Jortberg also competed in the women’s 5,000 meters and finished 23rd with a time of 17:25.02.
In the women’s 200-meter prelims, Sheleah Harris finished in 23rd place with a time of 24.72.
Omar Arnaout and McKinley Thompson tied for 10th place in the men’s high jump with a mark of 1.99 meters (6-6.25).
In the distance medley relays, the men took home 10th place with a time of 9:59.46 and the women finished 13th with a time of 11:46.69.
