Georgia Tech's Ulrike Stegemann Earns ACC Player of the Week Honors

ATLANTA – Yellow Jacket senior Ulrike Stegemann, coming off a pair of stellar performances against Miami and Florida State last weekend, has earned ACC Player of the Week honors, the Atlantic Coast Conference office announced Tuesday.

The honor is the first for Stegemann, and for Georgia Tech, in 2007. The Yellow Jackets currently stand third in the ACC with a 15-5 record and are 21-9 overall in 2007 headed into the final week of regular season play.

Stegemann, a senior right side hitter from Schwerin, Germany, hit .455 while piling up 12 kills on 22 attempts in Tech’s 3-1 defeat of Miami last Friday. The following night, she added four blocks and 16 kills while hitting .441 as the Yellow Jackets stopped Florida State, 3-1. For the weekend, she hit .446 with 3.5 kills, 1.88 digs and 0.75 blocks per game.

Also honored for her play last weekend was Duke setter Ali Hausfeld.
