Nov. 8, 2001

ATLANTA — Georgia Tech junior tennis player Roger Anderson was unable to continue his winning ways on Thursday, as he dropped his first-round match to Andy Leber of Texas-Arlington at the Omni Hotels National Indoor Championships. The four-day event is being hosted by SMU at the Brookhaven Country Club just outside of Dallas, Texas.

Anderson, a native of Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, dropped the opening set of the match by a 2-6 score, but battled back to make the second set a close affair, forcing a tiebreaker with Leber. Leber, who is currently the 70th-ranked player in the nation and one of the top players in the tournament was able to hold on in the tiebreak and claimed a 7-6 second-set win along with the final 6-2, 7-6 victory.

The tournament will continue for Anderson on Friday, as he will compete in the event’s consolation draw beginning in the morning. Full tournament results and coverage are available at www.itatennis.com.
